Manchester United were one of the 12 football clubs to have resigned from the European Club Association (ECA) and Ed Woodward has stepped down from his role with UEFA.

All of this came following plans for a new European Super League were announced. It has sparked outrage within the football community, with Gary Neville deciding to go public against the Glazers, as well as condemnation from star player Bruno Fernandes.

The fans were never consulted about any of this. Neither was the manager or the players. Those who made the decision – greedy owners – are solely to blame, and the snakes who surround them such as Ed Woodward.

A statement released on Sunday night confirmed 12 clubs, including United, had agreed to form a breakaway league which would be run by the founding clubs.

However, the ECA have issued a new statement on the ESL announcement.

It says: “The ECA Executive Board convened today to discuss a number of important matters following the resignation last night of 12 member clubs in light of various public communications centred around the creation of a so-called European Super League.

“The board was unanimous in its condemnation of the actions of the departing members, which it holds to be self-serving and to the detriment of the game’s well-being and in clear opposition to ECA’s values.

“We believe that European club football can be reformed within the system to achieve the collective best interests of the stakeholders in the game.

“The board reiterated ECA’s clear position as the only legitimate and fully recognised voice of leading clubs in Europe and, as such, has taken a number of decisions to ensure that it is able to continue to perform its role efficiently and effectively.”
