Joel Glazer has confirmed Manchester United approval of a new Super League in a statement.

A statement has been issued by the 12 founding clubs of the Super League, including Manchester United.

It makes us ill to think of what has come of our football club.

Well, what once we could call ‘our’ football club.

The Glazers came despite a strong warning from fans that they would damage our club and football league. Sadly, the football authorities did nothing about it but have condemned their latest move to form a breakaway league containing Europe’s top clubs.

A press release entitled ‘LEADING EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CLUBS ANNOUNCE NEW SUPER LEAGUE COMPETITION’ was published  on Sunday night, carrying quotes from the United co-chairman and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

“Twelve of Europe’s leading football clubs have today come together to announce they have agreed to establish a new mid-week competition, the Super League, governed by its Founding Clubs,” it read.

“AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atletico de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined as Founding Clubs.”

We couldn’t help but respond to the statement.

Earlier tonight we ran reports on reactions from Gary Neville, Sir Alex Ferguson and Boris Johnson.

The backlash is significant but it shouldn’t stop until these greedy owners are put in their place.

Joel Glazer is quoted in the statement too, amazingly since we rarely hear from them.

United failed to comment on the Super League before United’s Premier League win over Burnley came to an end, leaving all of the initial questioning for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

I thought that was shocking treatment for the manager, who should be protected by the club in such situations, considering the Super League has nothing to do with him.
