Ten Hag signing becomes the latest United star to be targeted by Saudi clubs, club could make £17m profit

Christian Eriksen is the latest Manchester United star to become the subject of Saudi Pro League interest, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

The 31-year-old joined in the first window of Ten Hag’s tenure in 2022, arriving at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Brentford and signing a three-year contract, meaning United will make a profit if he happens to depart before 2025. It is believed any interested clubs could offer around £17 million.

25 starts in the Premier League and a total of 44 appearances across all competitions rounded off his maiden campaign as a Red, in which he played a crucial role despite overseeing a lengthy layoff due to an ankle injury from January to April.

Eriksen has fallen out of favour this term though, with the arrivals of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount, as well as Erik ten Hag’s preference for Scott McTominay amid his impressive goalscoring contributions.

It remains to be seen whether Eriksen would pull the curtain on his European career so early, though fellow midfielder Casemiro is reportedly mulling over the prospect of a Saudi exit.

Raphael Varane has also been linked with a big-money move to join former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo in Karim Benzema in the league, however, he’s garnered more concrete interest from German giants Bayern Munich recently.
