Manchester United’s midfield stalwart has begun considering Saudi exit, club won’t stand in his way

Casemiro has reportedly begun considering a potential exit from Manchester United amid interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, as per Relevo.

The Brazilian was an undeniable stalwart for the Red Devils last season – an irreplaceable cog at the heart of the midfield. His efforts and contributions guided United to a third-placed finish and put an end to a six-year trophy drought, the latter of which he directly impacted by scoring the opening goal in the Carabao Cup final versus Newcastle United in February.

This term though, Casemiro has come under fire. Whether it’s fatigue or age catching up to him, the 31-year-old has often looked sluggish and off the pace. In the Premier League, you’ll quickly get caught out if this is the case.

Casemiro has been unavailable for the past six club games due to a hamstring injury and is not expected back in action until after Christmas, according to Erik ten Hag.

Casemiro considering United exit

It appears that amidst his spell on the sidelines and the side’s woeful start to the season, he’s started mulling over his future at Old Trafford and whether or not he will stay a Red beyond the current campaign. Casemiro is being strongly targeted by Saudi Pro League teams and the prospect of reuniting with former teammates, as well as receiving a hefty paycheck, is beginning to sway his mind away from United.

He is contracted to United until 2025 and the club do hold the option of triggering an additional year. They do not want him to leave and will try to persuade him to stay put, however, they won’t stand in his way if he pushes for a transfer.

Casemiro is also not completely resigned to a move in the near future, as he is reluctant to leave United in disarray and struggling for depth in his absence.
