Bayern Munich are interested in a potential deal for Raphael Varane amid his uncertain situation at Manchester United, as per Florian Plettenberg.
The centre-back has been one of the Red Devils’ most experienced, successful and reliable players since he made the move in 2021, hence why his lack of game time this season has raised the eyebrows of the Old Trafford faithful.
Prior to his recent injury setback, 35-year-old Jonny Evans had been preferred over Varane in the starting 11 for a string of games, leading to speculation that there may have been a fallout behind the scenes between Erik ten Hag and the Frenchman. However, such claims have been dismissed.
Even after Evans’ layoff was confirmed, Ten Hag opted to deploy Victor Lindelof alongside the in-form and resurgent Harry Maguire against Luton Town, with Varane reduced to just an 11-minute cameo off the bench.
Bayern register interest in four-time CL winner
It seems as though Bayern have taken note of Varane’s minutes and could offer him a key role in their squad for the second half of the campaign, as they’ll look to claim a 12th successive Bundesliga title and put up a real fight for the Champions League, having already qualified for the round of 16.
As per Plettenberg, the German giants have been informed that a January deal is possible and that Varane is valued at around €20-30 million.
