Mason Mount has sustained an injury and will be sidelined for the coming weeks, as confirmed this evening by Fabrizio Romano.

The Manchester United star has been dealt his second layoff since signing in the summer on a £55 million package move from Chelsea.

In late August, fresh off the back of his club debut, United announced that he had suffered a hamstring injury and he consequently missed five matches before returning at the end of September.

Yet another injury blow for United

It remains to be seen how long Mount will be unavailable for this time around and as the Reds approach the pivotal run of festive fixtures, having as much depth as possible in the squad is crucial. Even if he hasn’t got off the mark the way fans would’ve wanted him to just yet, he’ll certainly be a huge miss.

The 24-year-old is just the latest in a string of debilitating injury woes for Ten Hag this term.

Next up for United is a trip to Goodison Park this Sunday to take on Everton  before playing out their penultimate Champions League group stage contest versus Galatasaray on Wednesday, November 29.
