Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United’s opinion of Saul Niguez

According to leading football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in fact one of the clubs highly interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

Niguez, 26, has been with Atletico Madrid since he joined their youth academy all the way back in 2008.

However, despite growing to become one of the club’s most important and experienced players, last season saw the Spanish midfielder lose his place in Diego Simeone’s preferred 11.

Considered surplus to requirements, Niguez’s impending departure from the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium has now become a real possibility.

Rumoured to be in the market for a new central midfielder, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils have been one of the clubs linked with making a summer move.

Confirming the club’s stance on a possible transfer, Romano, who spoke to The United Stand, said: “Manchester United are among the clubs that have been in contact with Saul Niguez’s agent. They have an interest in the player and consider him ‘one of the biggest opportunities on the market’.

“€40-45m (£34m-£38m) will get a deal done, no bid yet.”

Since making his senior competitive debut for Atletico Madrid in 2011, Niguez has gone on to feature in 337 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 62 goals, along the way.
