Manchester United are out of the race to sign Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, according to reports. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford it’s looking unlikely.

Earlier this summer, a swap deal with Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann had been sounded out but a deal collapsed, prompting interest from Premier League clubs.

Stretty News revealed last month that Manchester United were not in the race to sign Saul, despite reports from Spain claiming they were.

These reports have now been echoed by Spanish outlet AS, via Sport Witness, who claim that a move to Manchester United for the 26-year-old is now considered ‘very unlikely’.

Having already signed Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane, Manchester United added to their attractive list of summer arrivals earlier this week when they announced a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

Although Saul will almost certainly not be joining the 36-year-old at Old Trafford, further sales could still prompt the club into entering the market again before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
