Manchester United and Chelsea battle it out for Saul Niguez

Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, according to reports. The midfielder is set to leave his club this summer and is attracting interest from the Premier League.

Earlier on Tuesday, reports from Spain claimed that Manchester United were leading the race to sign Saul before the window shuts next week.

Now, further reports are echoing the suggestion that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are interested. According to ESPN, after asking Atletico Madrid about Saul earlier this month, interest from the Old Trafford hierarchy remains but an agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached.

Chelsea are also said to be in talks, with the Blues reportedly gunning for a season-long loan with an option to buy on a permanent basis.

The report from ESPN claims that Thomas Tuchel is not pushing hard for the transfer as he is happy with his current squad but is aware that the climate could change between now and the end of the season, which is why a loan is preferred.
