Lingard and Elanga score as Queens Park Rangers put four past Man Utd

Manchester United have suffered their first defeat of pre-season after conceding four goals at Loftus Road. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side took the early lead through a fine goal from Jesse Lingard but an equaliser from Charlie Austin shortly followed.

The two sides went into half-time level and through the midst of Jadon Sancho chants from the traveling Manchester United support, several changes were made during the interval.

Solskjaer made four changes at half-time as Grant, Garner, Mata & Elanga replaced Heaton, Matic, James & Pellistri. The second half unravelled quickly for the Reds as three goals from Dykes & Odubajo ensured a big lead for the hosts.

The scoreline was hardly flattering but the game will have served as a good exercise for the young United side against a side far ahead in pre-season preparations.

More changes from Solskjaer followed as the entire team was replaced halfway through the second half and despite a late push from United, Elanga’s strike was a mere consolation.

Next up for United awaits another London side as they prepare to come up against Brentford on Wednesday. Solskjaer will be happy to welcome back several internationals ahead of the game against the newly-promoted side.
