Man Utd given boost as Raphael Varane rejects Real Madrid contract extension

Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pursuit of the Frenchman has been well documented this summer and the club is locked in negotiations with the Spanish club.

Varane returned to training with Real Madrid earlier this week but has shown no signs of committing to a long-term contract at the club after ten years at the Santiago Bernabeu. Up until this point, reports in Spain suggested that Varane had not responded to Real Madrid’s contract proposal.

According to Real Madrid insider Jose Felix Diaz, the 28-year-old has now rejected a contract renewal from his club. It is claimed that Real Madrid are aware that they will not be able to tie down the France international to a new deal, which gives United a huge boost in their attempts to sign him.

According to Diaz, who spoke to the Ramon Alvarez de Mon Montoliu YouTube channel, the potential deal remains complicated.

It is claimed that Real Madrid are asking for ‘more money’ at the moment, with Manchester United not willing to meet their demands as things stand.
