Potential Man Utd XI vs Liverpool: 4-2-3-1 formation without Rashford

Marcus Rashford looks set to miss the Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield.

This would be a huge blow for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who will regret bringing the forward on for the midweek clash against Wolves.

Rashford had be substituted despite only coming on from the bench. Man Utd won the FA Cup third round tie 1-0, thanks to a Juan Mata goal.

Solskjaer will need his defence to be in top form to contain Liverpool’s attack as they’ll try to catch the Scousers on the counter-attack. It is worth remember that they should have beaten Jurgen Klopp’s side at Old Trafford earlier in the season, but a late equaliser from Adam Lallana ruined that.

How will Man Utd line-up against Liverpool? Verdict below.

We’ve gone for a 4-2-3-1 formation for the trip to Anfield.

David de Gea will come back into the starting eleven, replacing Sergio Romero after the Argentine kept a clean sheet in the midweek fixture.

There has been a lot of calls for Brandon Williams to start and it’s the least he deserves after recent displays in the first team. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a certainty at right-back.

Solskjaer will opt for a defensive partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof — it’s not as if he has many choices in the defensive department.

A midfield duo of Nemanja Matic and Fred worked well against Wolves but this will be a much harder task.

I think Solskjaer will look to make up for Marcus Rashford’s absence by starting Mason Greenwood on the right, with Daniel James causing havoc on the left. Juan Mata should keep his place in the No10 role and try to unlock Anthony Martial further forward.

Manchester United potential line-up versus Liverpool: De Gea; AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Williams; Matic, Fred; Greenwood, Mata, James; Martial.

Andreas Pereira is unlucky to miss out but don’t be surprised if Solskjaer starts the Brazil international for added aggression in the middle of the park.
