Manchester United eye up January move for RB Leipzig forward

Manchester United are reportedly considering a potential January move for RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda.

Openda, 23, has been linked with a move to United in the past month but with Erik ten Hag in search of attacking reinforcements ahead of new investment, it could make for an interesting January transfer window.

The Reds suffered their fourth defeat at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday. A terrible record and we haven’t even reached Christmas. I know there’s been lots of injuries in the team, but the team is losing against opponents they should be beating.

There’s been a lot of pressure of Rasmus Hojlund, who has yet to score in the Premier League. The 20-year-old arrived in the summer with Anthony Martial as his back-up. A sorry excuse for a United player, but the young Danish striker seems misfortunate to be in such a misfiring side.

Hojlund is an aggressive centre-forward that gets into good goalscoring areas. It’s just a shame many of our players (example: Diogo Dalot against Bournemouth) can’t pick him out.

Anyhow, it would make perfect sense for Ten Hag to sign a striker in the summer. The difference from last January – Wout Weghorst – needs to be quality.

According to The Mirror, United have sounded out a potential move for Belgium international Openda.

He has scored 14 goals in 21 goals for Leipzig since his £35 million switch from Ligue 1 side RC Lens last summer.

Openda scored a brace in Leipzig’s 3-2 defeat against Man City in the Champions League this season, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he has fallen on our radar.

The report suggest a United scout was left impressed by Openda’s performance at the Etihad and it’s believed the club have listed him as a serious target for the winter transfer window.
