United team news for Galatasaray clash: Winger returns but nine players unavailable

Manchester United take on Galatasaray on Tuesday evening as Champions League football makes its highly-anticipated return to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are looking to pick up their first point in Group A and will be favourites heading into the game, but they’ll have their work cut out against the in-form Turkish outfit, who are unbeaten in the league so far this season.

As for Erik ten Hag’s options, he is again having to navigate numerous injury woes across the squad. It was confirmed last week that Lisandro Martinez would be overseeing an extended spell on the sidelines after an aggravation of a previous metatarsal fracture, which he will have a second operation to correct.

The Argentine is expected to be out for around two-to-three months.

United’s team news

Sergio Reguilon was not spotted in training on Monday and was not mentioned by the manager in his pre-match press conference when discussing players’ availability, suggesting that he is still dealing with his injury.

Jadon Sancho remains exiled as his feud with Ten Hag continues, while Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Amad Diallo and Donny van de Beek are unavailable for selection.

Kobbie Mainoo was spotted training with the team today but tomorrow’s fixture will likely come too early for him to feature.

On the other hand, Antony made his comeback to Carrington last Saturday morning after a three-week absence, so he is in contention to play the clash.
