It sounds like there has been some significant progress made on the potential sale of Manchester United midfielder Fred.

According to Fabrizio Romano this afternoon, Fenerbahce have submitted an official bid to United for the Brazilian midfielder.

The Italian journalist claims the proposal is worth €15m in total, with add-ons included, so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear United push it back and demand more.

United will hope this forces Fulham’s hand to get their act together if they really want to sign Fred this summer. The Premier League outfit has been linked with the 30-year-old since the end of last season.

Romano adds that negotiations are ongoing on both club and player side, with Fenerbahce trying to complete the signing soon.

United have already accepted that they will make a loss on Fred, but it is important to get players off the wage books when they are deemed surplus to requirements.

That said, the Reds value Fred at £20m which is more than what the Turkish side has offered.
