Erik ten Hag sends heartfelt message to Edwin van der Sar

Erik ten Hag has sent his best wishes to former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who continues to recover after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Van der Sar announced that he was moved out of intensive care this week and he is hoping to leave hospital soon.

In an interview with MUTV at BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Wednesday, Ten Hag sent a heartfelt message to his close friend, who he worked with at Ajax.

“It was a real shock for everyone, in Manchester, the fans of Manchester United and in the Netherlands as well all the fans from Ajax,” said Ten Hag.

“It is devastating when you see those pictures over hear that news.

“We all have our thoughts with him and his family.”

Ten Hag was speaking to club media ahead of United’s 1-0 win over Lyon in Edinburgh.

Van der Sar announced in May that he was quitting as Ajax achieve executive after their worst season in 14 years – during which they finished third in the Eredivisie.

And, it was in Amsterdam that he formed a bond with Ten Hag.

Everyone connected with United would like to wish Van der Sar a speedy recovery.
