Erik ten Hag learns transfer budget for a striker after Mason Mount agreement sealed

Manchester United must bolster their squad with the addition of a striker this summer.

After this week’s developments, it looks as though Mason Mount will be the first arrival through the doors of Carrington this transfer window.

United have reached a full agreement with Chelsea for a fee of £60 million (£55m + £5m in add-ons) that will see the 24-year-old leave Stamford Bridge after 18 years at the club.

The Red Devils are also lining up a bid for David de Gea’s potential replacement, Andre Onana. Inter Milan will demand around £47m to sanction their goalkeeper’s exit.

This would reportedly leave Erik ten Hag with around £65m, as per Manchester Evening News, to spend on a forward. However, he may be given more breathing room if the club oversee several departures.

It was confirmed yesterday that Wout Weghorst would be returning to Burnley following his loan and Anthony Martial’s future in Red remains unclear, not that he’s expected to feature much next season anyway with his fitness concerns.

United linked with several forwards

A prolific No.9 is a non-negotiable for United over the coming months and rumoured options include Rasmus Hojlund, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos.

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have also been linked but their price tags are on the more pricey side of valuations and are likely well above United’s budget.

  1. Hojlund, Ramos be good to get for £50m – just as long as Martial has not got No.9 on his back I ain’t too bothered. I’d much rather get Danny Welbeck back, not joking!

  2. A prolific Striker like Hojlund and Ramos will bring a lot of improvement in our front.
This thing of Takeover from Glazers is also affecting the transfers.
