Manchester United reach £60m agreement with Chelsea over Mason Mount

Manchester United have finally reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount in a deal worth £60 million.

The news broke this evening, courtesy of David Ornstein from The Athletic, just days after Manchester United had a bid worth £55m plus £5m in add-ons.

Mount, 24, will have to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms before completing his switch from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford.

However, it was reported some time ago that personal terms wouldn’t be an issue as Mount has been waiting for his transfer to United.

Mount will sign a contract under 2028 at United, with the option of a further year.

Chelsea should be happy to get £60m for a player with just one year left on his current deal, but there will be match goers disappointed to lose such a talented player who came from their academy.

The England international has made 195 appearances for the club since his first team debut in 2017. He spent two seasons out on loan before breaking into the first team — at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby Count.

Furthermore, it is believed Erik ten Hag has been a fan of mount since his time on loan at Vitesse.

I’m exciting to be getting Mount because we know this is a signing Ten Hag has pushed for.

  1. Great but we should have kept Zidane too
Not happy he has left the club he is a very exciting prospect would have love to see him in the first team just what we need to give the opposition teams problems. Not sure why Ten Hag let him leave same thing happened with Pogba why do we always have to buy back our own players. we should give the young talent a chance.

    1. yeah zidane’s so good and destined for greatness that all the worlds biggest clubs clamoured for his signature – but the mighty 7th placed Eredivisie side FC Utrecht won out!

    2. To be frankly speaking letting Zidane Iqbal out of Manchester United is a big blow to me and many fan of Manchester United, i couldn’t understand the rational behind it.

      1. yeah lets just ignore the fact that he has signed for the 7th best team in holland – he is not good enough – clearly!

i respect your opinion but again he signed for Fc utrecht, hardly a big hitter.

  2. So from £80,000 a week to £200,000 a week no wonder he was eager to sign another one we’ll have trouble selling if he’s another dud like Sancho like they say if you don’t learn from your mistakes you’re in danger of repeating them and striker striker wherefore art thou new striker ?

  3. Mount is an upgrade on Fred and scot Mc Tominay . But lets be honest our number one priority has to be a striker . You can not win games without goals

  4. i see the argument that he is better than mcfred, but that applies for so many players that i’m not sure its a good argument – especially if he is on big money and cost 60m with a year left.

it seems very expensive considering it also seems no-one else was interested. baffles me how bad united are in the transfer market.

I doubt he will be a big difference especially the way other clubs seem to be strengthening.
