(Video) Luke Shaw comically admits to ‘tapping up’ England stars to convince them of United move

Luke Shaw has hilariously admitted that he’s been ‘tapping up’ his fellow England stars to join Manchester United whilst on international duty.

The defender sparked speculation among the Old Trafford faithful with his Instagram story at the weekend; he stood alongside United-linked duo Declan Rice and Harry Kane at the Reds’ training base, captioning the post “Carrington tour” with a side-eye emoji.

England will be facing North Macedonia in a Euro 2024 qualifier this evening at the Theatre of Dreams, so any player who is mulling over a switch to the 20-time champions will get the matchday experience to help them in their decision-making.

Agent Shaw is hard at work

In a pre-match press conference alongside manager Gareth Southgate, Shaw was quizzed on whether there’d been any of his teammates that he was “tapping up”, and comically responded: “There’s a few.”

The reporter then further questioned if this involved Mason Mount, who was the subject of a £40 million bid from the Reds’ camp, and Shaw replied: “Obviously he’s not here, but I think it’s all just a bit of banter really.

“Obviously, we have a joke and a laugh about it. Not too sure what goes on behind the scenes, it’s to do with the club. But of course, when we’re here and we’re always together, we have a joke about it.

“Like I said I don’t know too much of what’s going on [behind the scenes] so that’s it really.”
