Manchester United are preparing a second bid for Mason Mount after their initial offer was swiftly rejected.

The Red Devils tabled a £40 million proposal for the Cobham graduate last week and saw it swiftly rebutted by the London club as it fell too short of their valuation.

Chelsea are believed to value Mount at around £70 million, however, they may be forced to accept a significantly lower amount.

According to The Guardian, the club are “under pressure” to raise money this summer, and United are looking to capitalise on this in their pursuit of the midfielder.

The report suggests that the United board will up the ante with a £50 million bid, which they think will sway the Blues into letting go of the 24-year-old.

Mount is out of contract next summer so unless Chelsea budge on their price tag, they risk losing him for free, as he is unwilling to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
