Erik ten Hag has hinted at the potential involvement of Manchester United’s returnees in tonight’s game.
The Red Devils have made the trip to Seville and will be preparing to tackle the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at 8pm (BST) this evening.
The manager has been granted huge fitness boosts in the form of four players returning to first-team training, those being Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer. The quartet were spotted yesterday morning at Carrington ahead of the forthcoming season-defining fixtures.
Given that the tie is drawn at 2-2, following the late own goals conceded at Old Trafford last week, having the likes of Rashford available to start the game would significantly boost United’s chances of progressing. The Englishman has netted 28 goals in all competitions this season and has been absolutely clinical in front of goal.
Ten Hag on the four returning Reds
Ten Hag was quizzed on the possibility of the four Reds featuring against Sevilla in his pre-match press conference and responded (via the club website): “Some players came to training after their injuries today, so we have to wait for their reactions, and then tomorrow we will take decisions, so we have our scenarios, we have our plans. Tomorrow we will take one, but we have to win this game.”
