Preview: Manchester United vs Everton

Manchester United will be looking to consolidate their place in the top four when they take on Everton in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a much needed 1-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, whilst the visitors drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park last Monday.

Luke Shaw has been ruled out of the clash against Everton with a thigh injury, however, Christian Eriksen looks set to be named in the squad for the first time since January after recovering from an ankle injury.

After losing to Newcastle United last weekend it goes without saying that the victory over Brentford midweek couldn’t have come at a better time for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United. After a promising start to 2023, the Reds form has differed over the past month or so but in winning midweek it will hopefully act as the springboard needed for us to get back on track.

Everton look to have turned a corner in recent weeks following the appointment of Sean Dyche. Truth be told, games against Everton are never easy affairs as it is but with the former Burnley boss now in charge, the Toffees will be even tougher of an opponent to crack. In order for United to take all three points we must undoubtedly be at our very best.

The visitors will likely put plenty of men behind the ball on Saturday and will look to make life difficult for United, but despite that we have more than enough firepower and quality up top to cause Everton real problems.

An early goal from United in many respects could go a long to deciding this one. It would force Everton to play out from the back leaving holes at the back which Rashford and co can take advantage of.

It wont be easy and I suspect will be tight but I do think we will beat Everton albeit it will be a close contest.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Everton
