Manchester United host Everton this Saturday, April in the early kick-off (12.30pm BST) at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils got back to winning ways last night after a three-game winless and goalless streak – one that Erik ten Hag and his players would’ve been keen to put to bed.
It was a controlled and dominant performance, with United seemingly unwilling to overly chase a second goal after Marcus Rashford’s 27th-minute opener. The defence did a stellar job to keep Brentford’s ever-threatening attackers quiet, especially Ivan Toney, who failed to register a shot on target despite his scintillating form this season.
Attention now switches to Saturday though and with United now returning to the top four, it’s time to cement our place in the mix.
The Red Devils have faced Everton twice this season; the reverse league clash ended 2-1 in United’s favour back in October, and a 3-1 FA Cup victory saw the Reds cruise past the Toffees and progress to the next round of the competition in January.
United & Everton: How they fare heading into the clash
Everton find themselves facing another fight for survival this term after narrowly escaping relegation last season. Frank Lampard was relieved of his managerial duties in January and the Blues board sought Sean Dyche as the man to keep them in the top division. Under his tenure, they have beaten Arsenal and drawn to the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. They currently sit 16th.
Meanwhile, United have tasted defeat just once in the league at home this season and have conceded the fewest goals at home across the top flight (8). It tends to be away from home when the squad often struggles to see out a result, so there are no excuses for not picking up all three points this weekend.
The game will be broadcast on BT Sport in the UK, whilst Stretty News will keep you covered with key highlights and interviews across the blog and social media.
