Preview: Manchester United vs Fulham | FA Cup quarter-finals

Manchester United will be looking to book a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup when they take on Fulham at Old Trafford.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory over Real Betis in the Europa League, whilst the visitors were defeated 3-0 by Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend.

Erik ten Hag is widely expected to make changes to his starting eleven against Fulham with Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho all likely to start.

With one trophy in the bag top four looking likely and the Europa League and FA Cup quarter finals to come, it’s fair to say it has been a job well done so far from Ten Hag in his debut season.

At the start of the campaign, if you were to offer the Dutchman a place in the top four and some silverware, he would have taken it with both hands.

The FA Cup may have taken a back seat over the last few years or so, but it still remains and rightly so the most famous domestic competition in the world. United haven’t won it since beating Crystal Palace back in May 2016 and Ten Hag will be desperate to put that right this season, however, it wont be easy.

Fulham have enjoyed a successful season thus far under head coach Marco Silva on their return to the Premier League and currently find themselves sitting in 9th place. The West London side truth be told have probably exceeded expectations this season on their return to the Premier League and although Fulham have enjoyed a terrific campaign this is still a game you would expect United to win.

Just two games away from another Wembley final and Ten Hag will be desperate to win another trophy with United this season. The League Cup was a fantastic triumph for Ten Hag, but winning the FA Cup truth be told would go one better and with Manchester City respectively the only big team left in the competition it’s probably the clubs best chance of winning another trophy this season.

It wont be easy and I suspect will be tighter than most people might think but this is still a game I expect United to win albeit it will be close.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Fulham
