Manchester United not giving up on Antony with Ajax star keen on transfer

Manchester United are not willing to give up on Antony.

Ajax turned down the latest bid this week – believed to be worth €80 million – and it was suggested that Manchester United would turn their attention to alternative options such as Yannick Carrasco and Cody Gakpo.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United are not giving up on Antony because they believe he really wants the move, although Gakpo is still being considered as a cheaper option if Ajax continue to rebuff our attempts to sign the Brazil international.

Romano adds that he is unsure that Antony starts on Sunday for Ajax as discussions continue.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester United are not giving up on Antony. Ajax turned down new bid but Man Utd plan to try again – they feel Antony really wants the move. Been told it’s not sure that Antony starts on Sunday yet, still discussed internally. Gakpo, cheaper option for Man Utd.”

Antony could potentially become one of two Brazilians to join United this summer, with the Red Devils closing in on a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, who has won five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles during his time at Los Blancos.

The Ajax star played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and it’s clear that the Dutchman wants to bring the winger to the Premier League.

It’s a signing that will excite fans but it won’t be enough to see United compete this season. We need a lot more players to do that.

  1. Sure! we really want to see this guy in a man-utd shirt. Don’t give in to trying again. With him and other players, it’s possible to challenge the title even this season, Yes! He has clever legs.
