Manchester United are reportedly targeting PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.
According to ESPN, Gakpo’s representatives have been alerted to United’s interest by recruitment staff at Old Trafford, although no bid has been made yet.
The report states that the Netherlands international is valued at around £35m by PSV, who are currently managed by former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, and he’d hardly stop one of his talents from fulfilling a dream by joining the biggest football club in England.
ESPN believe PSV won’t accept anything less than £35m for their speedy winger. The academy graduate has scored 21 goals in 47 games last season. and he has earned 7 caps for the Netherlands national team.
Rob Dawson reports: “Sources added there is interest from other Premier League clubs in Gakpo, who scored twice in PSV’s 4-1 opening-day win against FC Emmen on Saturday, but that he would be keen to move to United if terms are agreed.”
It sounds like Gakpo could be alternative option to Ajax winger Antony, who was targeted by United earlier this summer, though the Red Devils have since moved on with the Brazil international being priced out of a move this summer.
This could become a busy week for United.
