RB Leipzig don’t want to lose Christopher Nkunku this summer.
According to The Independent, Leipzig aim to out price an array of European clubs from signing the versatile forward this summer, by putting a £100 million price tag on his signature.
For starters, I don’t think Nkunku is a £100m player and United need to spend wisely this summer.
The Bundesliga club are believed to be speaking to Nkunku’s entourage directly in a bid to convince the player that another season with them would be beneficial to his career.
Nkunku is expected to sign an extension with a release clause.
Liverpool and Arsenal have looked at the prospect of signing the player, who has also been linked with a return to Paris Saint-Germain.
While I’m sure United rated Darwin Nunez just like they rate Nkunku, it remains to be seen if they will formalise their interest with an offer. They didn’t do that with Nunez yet the Scouse media want you to think the 22-year-old turned down United.
Moreover, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is the primary target and that won’t be a cheap deal to get over the line.
Nkunku has just had the best season of his career with 35 goals in all competitions. If he can score close to that next season and show consistency over two seasons, you might see clubs willing to spend close to Leipzig’s current valuation.
But not now…
