(Video) ‘Fantastic coach’ – Kieran McKenna praises incoming Manchester United

Erik ten Hag is busy finalising plans for the Dutch Cup Final this weekend but then it will be time to announce his future plans to manage Manchester United.

An official announcement could be made next week after a verbal agreement was reached between United and Ten Hag.

Robin van Persie is a leading candidate to join his backroom staff, however, it is expected that Ajax coach Mitchell van der Gaag will be another to join Ten Hag.

Former United coach, Kieran McKenna, who is currently in charge at Ipswich Town, says he is looking forward to see how Ten Hag gets on at Old Trafford.

“Erik ten Hag’s a fantastic coach, I’ve enjoyed watching his Ajax team over the last few years, they are a team I’ve watched quite a lot of and really enjoyed the style of play he’s managed to impact there,” McKenna told Sky Sports.

“I think as a Manchester United fan, all Manchester United fans want to see is a successful team on the pitch and I’m sure they will be working hard to make steps in the right direction during the course of the off-season.”

McKenna left United’s staff following Ralf Rangnick’s arrival after working closely with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick.
