Sky Sports reporter claims Erik ten Hag is “very keen” to talk to Manchester United

Manchester United continue their search for a new manager and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is said to be “very keen” to talk with the club about the vacancy this summer.

From reading the polls and even the comment section on Stretty News, it is clear that most supporters would like to see the Dutchman takeover, with Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino also considered a frontrunner.

Ten Hag promises possession based attacking football and his Ajax team has already managed more than 100 goals in all competitions this season. We know that every fan wants to be entertained at Old Trafford — and away — after years of mediocrity, which explains why Ten Hag seems a popular choice.

However, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has provided an update via Twitter on the Dutchman’s situation, after he was “sounded out” by intermediaries.

This doesn’t mean United have made official contact but it’s how the club operates when signing players too. Sheth adds that the Ajax manager is “very keen” to talk to United.

Sheth tweeted: “Erik ten Hag ‘sounded out’ by intermediaries – but no official contact from Manchester United. Focus is on Ajax — but he’d be “very keen” to talk to United. Clubs share good relations – van der Sar Ajax CEO. SSN reported in November #1 choice was Poch. #2 ten Hag.”

The 52-year-old has got got a pretty comfortable job at Ajax, where he’s been consistent on the trophy front, so why would he want to talk to United given the mess we are in?

Well, it’s still the biggest job in world football and taking us back to previous heights is a challenge that would interest most top managers. There are even suggestions that United should try pip Thomas Tuchel from Chelsea following sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich.

  1. Think we need ten Hag’s brand of football as it’s proven albeit on a lower level. He will also be fresh to the Premier League unlike Pochettinno which I think is a plus as worry that Pochettinno may have had his ‘fingers burned’ trying to cope with the big egos at PSG so might not be ‘up for the fight’ with our big egos who need sorting out too!

  2. Ten Hag is the man to take Man Utd back where we belong at the top and challenging for trophies and titles having world class players wanting to join this mighty club and bringing the fear factor in attacking football
