Agent of Atletico Madrid star contacts Man United after talks with Barcelona stall

According to recent reports in Spain, the agent of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has sounded out both Manchester United and Liverpool after talks with Barcelona hit a stumbling block.

That’s according to a written report from AS, who claims the Spanish midfielder’s representatives are working hard trying to secure their star client a summer move.

Niguez, 26, has been a part of Atletico Madrid’s squad since he made the switch from Real Madrid’s youth academy all the way back in 2008.

Since forcing his way through the club’s illustrious youth ranks, Niguez has gone on to feature in 337 first-team matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 62 goals, along the way.

Despite being part of Diego Simeone’s squad who famously pipped Real Madrid and Barcelona to La Liga title last season, Niguez’s playing time has been heavily restricted as he continues to lose his place among the side’s starting 11.

Expected to now move on this summer as the midfielder looks to reignite his career, several top clubs have been linked with a swoop, including Spanish rivals Barcelona.

However, despite initially being expected to be exchanged in favour of striker Antonie Greizmann, talks between camps have reportedly reached an impasse.

The latest in the ongoing saga now comes from AS, who claims in an attempt to secure him a transfer, the player’s agent has contacted Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool.
