Sunderland keen on Man United youngster ahead of possible loan move

League One side Sunderland is reportedly keen on signing Manchester United youth midfielder Ethan Galbraith.

That’s according to a recent report from the Sunderland Echo, who claims the Black Cats are monitoring the youngster ahead of a possible loan move next season.

Galbraith, 20, joined United’s youth academy in 2017 following a transfer from Linfield’s under-19s.

Since arriving at Carrington, the young midfielder has gone on to feature in 71 youth matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 18 goals, along the way.

However, looking to take the next step in his impressive development, it has now been claimed that the Northern Irishman could play his football in the North East next season.

Despite Sunderland’s interest in the 20-year-old, Sunderland Echo goes on to note that they’re not the only side interested in the midfielder, with Championship clubs also expected to enter the mix.

United have seen their loan decision in recent times turn out for the better – with the biggest success story coming by way of midfielder James Garner’s impressive spell with Nottinging Forest last season.
