Manchester United academy graduate bids heartfelt farewell to the club

Manchester United academy graduate Ethan Galbraith has bid a heartfelt farewell to the club this afternoon.

It was confirmed earlier this week by Manchester Evening News that 22-year-old Galbraith would be released as a free agent at the end of the campaign.

The Northern Ireland international has spent the season on loan at Class of 92-owned Salford City, who are currently preparing for the second leg of their play-off clash with Stockport in a bid to clinch promotion to League One.

Galbraith has made 38 appearances across this term, scoring four goals and assisting a further three. He also completed a loan move to Doncaster Rovers in 2021, where he gained even more valuable experience with the League One side.

His United debut and only appearance for the club came back in 2019 during a Europa League tie with FC Astana.

Galbraith says goodbye

Writing on Instagram, Galbraith said goodbye to the Red Devils.

“After 6 years, my time has come to an end with this magnificent club @manchesterunited. I want to thank the club, coaching staff & players for helping me become a better player, a better person and for making me feel at home.

“My earliest ambition as a boy was to become a professional footballer and I’m forever grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity and support to fulfil that dream. It’s been a privilege & I feel very fortunate to have been able to represent the club.

“I step into the next chapter of my career a more mature well-rounded person and I’m excited for what’s next…”

The midfielder is among several players that are set to be released this summer, including Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Charlie Wellens and Ondrej Mastny.
