Manchester United plan to release at least 5 players this summer

Manchester United are expected to be busy when it comes to outgoings this summer. Under the current ownership of the Glazer family, Erik ten Hag will need to trim the squad if he wants to add more quality to the team.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are set to release five players this summer, including centre-back duo Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.

Jones, 31, has started just two games in three years due to injuries. It would be an understatement to say he is stealing a living at the moment. He hasn’t even trained all season.

Meanwhile, Tuanzebe has not played for the Reds since the Europa League final defeat in 2021.

The other three players set to be released include Ethan Galbraith, Ondrej Mastny and Charlie Wellens.

There are also doubts over Spanish youngster Mateo Mejia’s future at the club.

It’s clear there will be an emphasis on outgoings at Old Trafford at the end of the season, but what the fans really want is for the Glazers to go.
