Predicted Man Utd XI for UEL final: De Gea, Tuanzebe and Greenwood to start

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept his cards close to his chest ahead of the Europa League, but it certainly looks like Harry Maguire’s season is over after sustaining an ankle injury on May 9.

The manager usually opts for Fred and Scott McTominay in the middle but both players have been injured lately. On top of that, they’ve both struggled for form and that doesn’t bode well – along with missing your captain – 24 hours before the final.

They could start and pleasantly surprise me with a solid performance, however, this could also be an opportunity for United to have a real go at Villarreal. You want to see the lads creating chances for Edinson Cavani.

Fred misses out for me – with Paul Pogba playing ahead of McTominay and behind Bruno Fernandes. That allows us to start Mason Greenwood on the night and Marcus Rashford where he belongs, on the left.

Cavani can be the perfect central piece.

It’s an attacking line-up but Villarreal are the underdogs for a reason. United need to focus on their own game first.

With Maguire missing, Axel Tuanzebe could be considered a surprise starter but I simply cannot recall many promising performances from Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof as a duo, and the Swede is most likely to start.

Stretty News understands a decision has already been made over who starts between the sticks, with David de Gea set to get the nod. Hear more on our latest podcast.

SN’s predicted Manchester United XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba, Fernandes; Greenwood, Cavani, Rashford.
