Borussia Dortmund set astronomical summer price-tag for Erling Haaland

According to reports, Borussia Dortmund will demand over £150m for star-striker Erling Haaland.

Since joining the Black and Yellows just over 12-months ago after making the switch from RB Salzburg, Haaland has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of European football.

After featuring in 31 games, in all competitions, so far this season, the prolific forward has already racked up 32 goals and eight assists.

The Norweigan’s continued and inspired form has seen him draw links to some of the sport’s biggest clubs, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.

However, the Red Devils aren’t the only club to be heavily interested in securing the 20-year-old’s signature; Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are also reported to be in the hunt.

However, in what is a usual scenario, due to contract clauses, Haaland’s minimum release clause, believed to be around £80m, will not come into effect until 2022.

The fact Haaland, technically has no active release at the moment, any proposed move will be down to Dortmund to authorise and according to ESPN, the German side wants to extract maximum value.

The report claims that should the Bundesliga side part ways with Haaland this summer, they’ll only do so for an eye-watering £154m (€180m).

Should Haaland end up moving from Dortmund for £154m, he would become the world’s third most expensive player, just behind PSG duo Kylian Mbappe (£163m) and Neymar (£198m).

Wowzers.
