Man Utd youngster aims dig at Liverpool after FA Youth Cup win over Salford City

Manchester United are in the next round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Salford City 2-0.

It means they face Liverpool or Sutton in the fourth round.

Daniel Gore headed United into the lead in the first-half following a fantastic first time cross from Iestyn Hughes, and Charlie McNeill doubled United’s lead which you can read about in our match report.

McNeill, who only needed one opportunity before finding the back of the net against Salford, reflected on the win with a confident interview on MUTV.

The young striker didn’t hide the fact that he wants Liverpool in the next round of the FA Youth Cup.

“I’m over the moon, especially with the win to get to the next round,” McNeill said, as quoted by MEN. “I’ve scored 15 goals this season but most of that is down to my teammates assisting me well and creating chances.

“I put a nice goal away and could have had another one towards the end, I’m a bit frustrated with myself and I know I could have scored.

“I love it here [United], it’s amazing.

“I’m a United fan, I love the club through and through and I’ve settled in really well.

“We’ll look to go all the way. In the next round, we might have Liverpool which we know is a derby, an amazing game to play in.

“Hopefully we can keep progressing and we can win that game to rub it in Liverpool’s face.”

I enjoyed McNeill’s interview on MUTV after the match and he spoke like a true fan when it came getting one over Liverpool.

It’s nice to see our youngsters talk with passion when representing the club and McNeill feels he can do better after his one-goal display.
