Report: Dortmund ready to accept €100m for Sancho, Woodward determined to get summer deal done

Depending on who you ask, you are likely to get a vary of perspectives on why Jadon Sancho didn’t start for Borussia Dortmund against RB Leipzig.

Dortmund’s director of football says the winger spoke to manager Lucien Favre before the game and said he didn’t have the energy to play 90 minutes, while German journalist Heiko Wasser claimed the decision to bench Sancho was made on the basis his head has already turned in the direction of Old Trafford.

I was shocked seeing Dortmund’s XI last weekend without Sancho, thinking they would’ve field their strongest line-up but their main attacking threat from the right flank was dropped to the bench.

So, is there anything to read into re: Sancho’s exclusion from Favre’s starting team at the weekend?

According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Dortmund are willing to accept an offer of €100m for Sancho, with the 20-year-old keen on a move to United.

This gives us some hope a deal can be done but we won’t see excessive spending like before. Every football club has lost out due to the COVID-19 pandemic — from the top of the pyramid to the bottom.

He adds that Dortmund are confident that he will stay put for another season – while the Daily Express claim Ed Woodward is ‘determined’ to sign the England international.

Sancho is a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer, as per The Independent, but I get the feeling a deal hangs on whether the two clubs in question can agree on a price.

Signing Sancho would go a long way towards improving our attack for next season!
