According to reports in Italy, Manchester United are trying to sign Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
SportMediaset are reporting that the Lazio director Igli Tare is reportedly in London for talks to hear proposals from English clubs.
The report claims United in particular are pushing to sign Milinkovic-Savic. United’s interest in the player is said to go back several years now and the Reds could look to sign the 24-year-old as a replacement for Paul Pogba.
Pogba’s future is now in further doubt after agent Mino Raiola told the Times that the Frenchman wishes to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already needed new midfield additions whether or not Pogba does leave this summer, and Milinkovic-Savic is the latest name linked with the switch.
Moreover, the report claims Lazio were only prepared to sell their midfielder for €120m last summer, but are now willing to accept around €80m.
It is suggested United could even push through a deal for Milinkovic-Savic before Pogba departs the club.
Milinkovic-Savic is now one of a number of midfield names linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer. Ideally, Bruno Fernandes would be a fantastic addition given his exceptional goal record at Sporting Lisbon, but no deal seems imminent for the Portuguese international as of yet.
We will have to wait and see if there is actually any concrete interest in Milinkovic-Savic or if it is purely speculation.
