Manchester United are reportedly keen on Athletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.
It would take a huge fee to bring the 24-year-old Spaniard to Old Trafford, with Athletico Madrid said to be not willing to budge on the midfielder’s €150m release clause.
Spanish publication AS, as translated by Sport Witness claim that United have contacted Niguez’s entourage declaring their interest in the player.
However, you would find it hard to believe Niguez would want to move to Old Trafford this summer, given he is already under a long-term contract at Athletico and is playing Champions League football regularly.

Pogba, meanwhile, is keen to leave Old Trafford this summer, and was heard admitting he would like seek a new challenge elsewhere. Real Madrid and Juventus have both been heavily linked with the Frenchman.
Many United fans have mixed reactions to Niguez, with some excited by the talents of the midfielder but others wary of his excessive price.
Hoping Pogba sends in Transfer request tomorrow but most importantly we need 150m upfront so @ManUtd can activate Saul Niguez Release clause. So possibly Ole vision is Saul Niguez, Bruno Fernandes and Longstaff. @ManUtd @markgoldbridge @UnitedStandMUFC #mufc

#MUFC Saul Niguez would be a fantastic signing, but cant see why he should move to United. Plays for the club he loves on a long term contract and under a manager he loves #unitedno
