David de Gea has been chosen by his teammates as the best goalkeeper in the world and will receive the award at the gala of The Best.
His work with Manchester United will never go unnoticed, even if there’s a lack of appreciation for his brilliance in Spain following a dire World Cup from the 2010 champions.
In the past, this award has been won by Dida, Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas and Manuel Neuer. It’s about time De Gea has been added to the list.
Along with the United goalkeeper, MARCA has learned that Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will also feature in the eleven of the best in the world.
The Span No.1 didn’t start the season too well with United, but in recent weeks he has kept the Reds in games when they desperately needed his heroics. We are still games in but already eight points behind Liverpool… Without Spanish Dave between the posts it would be more.
Only last week on the podcast we discussed the appreciation United fans have for De Gea in comparison to that of Spanish press.
The sooner he signs his contract extension the better.
