Keen to continue their quest to sign Premier League-proven talent, Manchester United have added two Newcastle United stars to their summer shortlist.

Indeed, numerous reports have already verified that the Red Devils have begun sizing up a move for Sandro Tonali following his agent’s admission that he might be on the move at the end of the season.

The Italian joins the likes of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson in being firmly admired and actively monitored by United in the lead-up to the transfer window.

As well as Tonali: Reds eyeing Anthony Gordon

Now, however, Ben Jacobs claims that forward Anthony Gordon is catching INEOS’ eye, and has been ‘discussed internally’ by the hierarchy in M16.

He says that the Magpies may be cornered into facilitating a ‘major sale’ of the attacker in the event they fail to qualify for the Champions League. Currently, they sit 10th-placed in the Premier League and nine points adrift of United in fourth.

Everton begrudgingly sold their academy graduate to Newcastle in January 2023 for an initial £40 million. He is now valued at £52.4m by Transfermarkt, though the Tyneside outfit will be demanding considerably more if any negotiations take place.

This term, Gordon has struggled to showcase his most prolific form in the league, returning only three goals and two assists in 20 appearances thus far.

He has overseen some scintillating performances in Europe, however. The 24-year-old added a whopping four goals to his tally in Tuesday night’s first-leg play-off away to Qarabag, taking his contributions up to 10 goals and two assists in the UCL.

Across all competitions for Newcastle over the last three years, Gordon has scored 36 goals and assisted 28 times in 142 matches.
