Manchester United considered Everton starlet before moving for Antony

Manchester United investigated a possible transfer for Everton winger Anthony Gordon before opting to prioritise a move for Antony from Ajax.

Gordon has caught the eye at Everton and had been linked strongly with Chelsea this summer, but The Athletic claims United considered him before moving for Antony instead.

United fans will be delighted with this decision because there is no denying that Antony has a higher ceiling than Gordon, even if the Brazilian has yet to experience Premier League football.

The report indicates that a move to Chelsea now looks less likely because of the substantial difference between the club’s valuations of Gordon, which is believed to be approximately £60 million.

Meanwhile, The Mirror claims Everton are desperate to keep the youngster after seemingly pricing him out of a move this summer.

The Toffees want to ensure that, if he is to leave, Everton will have enough money in the transfer kitty to buy a replacement and strengthen the squad.

Chelsea spent similar money on Marc Cucurella.
