Despite maintaining a ‘strained’ relationship with Ruben Amorim this season, Kobbie Mainoo has no intention of ending his Manchester United career prematurely.

Numerous reports have suggested that Mainoo, for the first time, would consider cutting ties with his boyhood club amid a heavily reduced playing role at Old Trafford.

However, Samuel Luckhurst has now claimed the midfield starlet is ‘determined’ to stay put and continue proving himself at United long-term.

This comes amid reported ‘friction’ between head coach Amorim, which would’ve only intensified after the youngster’s brother donned a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt while attending United’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth on December 16.

Unfortunately for Mainoo, he has been unable to capitalise on Bruno Fernandes’ absence in recent matches.

When the skipper’s injury setback was confirmed, it was anticipated that the 20-year-old would be in line to receive his first Premier League start of the campaign alongside seasoned veteran Casemiro, who once hailed Mainoo as a ‘complete player’.

However, he proceeded to sustain an injury of his own and has consequently missed the last three matches with a calf problem.

The Carrington graduate has featured for 212 minutes in total across the 11 appearances he’s made and has been an unused substitute on four occasions.

Although he does envision his future with United, Mainoo is expected to push for a winter exit on loan to secure increased game time elsewhere – so long as he recovers from his layoff in time to negotiate a deal.

Club chiefs, on the other hand, will only facilitate a departure if Fernandes is back at Amorim’s disposal or a new recruit is brought in to bolster the options in the middle of the park.

  1. Amorim is not to be trusted, his rhetoric does not match his deeds or promises. It is not just United players who have discovered this, it happened at his old Club. There has been no significant improvement under Amorim or Ratcliffe and his entourage. Pity there is no structure for transferring owners but then again who would want Ratcliffe, Nice?

  2. It aint the 1st of April yet but now this struggling manager wants to sign a player from an EPL club at the bottom of the ladder it beggars belief, this proves that Ratcliffe and his muppets are morally and intellectually bankrupt in regards to the humiliation they have brought to MU the greatest football club in the world, lets hope there is a takeover of MU soon,

  3. We can’t keep losing those few players that bring sparkle, excitement – magic, if you like – to the team. I am convinced that, under Ferguson, Rashford, Garnacho and Mainoo would have been valued, productive team members. OK, there probably won’t ever be another Fergie, but somewhere there must be a Manager who values exciting, attacking football over a rigid formation that time and time again fails to work. And bores your butt off at the same time
I’d have OGS back in a heartbeat, yeah we’d probably get the occasional hiding; and that’s different how from ETH and Amorim?
