Antoine Semenyo is poised to complete an imminent move to Manchester City after agreeing on personal terms.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the ‘deal [is] almost done’ between City and Bournemouth, meaning the forward is expected to make the switch in the coming days.

After the Cherries’ 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday evening, Andoni Iraola told reporters that he expects to still have Semenyo at his disposal for the visit of Arsenal on Saturday, although that will almost certainly mark his final game for the club.

Since the summer, Manchester United were amongst Semenyo’s suitors.

While they failed to get an agreement over the line before the campaign began, they did start reviving their interest in the build-up to the winter window in hopes of bolstering Ruben Amorim’s ranks following yet another turbulent run.

The 25-year-old’s stellar form, particularly over the last season-and-a-half, made him a relatively risk-free candidate to add to Amorim’s attack.

Then, when his £65 million release clause became public knowledge, United were of the stance that Semenyo would be worth every penny, and started making their approaches to both the Dorset outfit and the player.

Yet, from Semenyo’s perspective, the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola and vie for silverware from now until the culmination of the term was too lucrative to turn down.

He has rebuffed offers from United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in recent weeks, having set the Etihad as his first-choice destination.

It remains to be seen if INEOS chiefs will move for any other attacker this month, given that a midfielder is said to be the absolute priority.

  1. Man Utd can target whoever they want but the chances of a good player wanting to come to Man Utd as long as Amorim the Clueless is the manager are close to zero.
