Given the severe cost-cutting endeavours being put into place by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the last few months, Manchester United fans are not entering the January transfer window with high hopes.
In recent years, the winter window has posed as a quiet one for the Red Devils, primarily due to the lack of funds available after what follows a typical summer splurge.
If there’s one year for the situation to change, though, it really has to be this one. United will round off 2024 in 14th place after sustaining nine defeats in the first half of the campaign while also breaking a 62-year record of most league losses in a calendar month (five), previously set in September 1962. As such, reinforcements next month may be imperative for INEOS.
Casemiro eyeing Old Trafford exit in January

One way that incomings can be facilitated easier is if sales are made first. Marcus Rashford still faces a largely uncertain future at Old Trafford; despite returning to the matchday squad for the first time in four games last night, he was an unused substitute, meaning his last appearance came on December 12.
Elsewhere, reports – via UOL Esporte – on Monday revealed that Casemiro has ‘agreed to leave’ United in the coming weeks after being directly targeted by Saudi Pro League sides. The owners would undoubtedly be keen on sanctioning his exit and removing his £350,000-a-week wages from the books in the process.
The Brazilian made a rare start against Newcastle United in the absences of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte but, as has so often been the case over the last year, looked a shell of his former, tenacious self.

Casemiro is just another example of how far United have fallen. Buying for a huge fee and salary at the dwindling end of his career not the prime. They have been the retirement home for too many players who would not entertain playing for them in their prime and all too eager to take the money at United when their Clubs did not want them anymore. United are more of a mess since Ratcliffe took over footballing affairs than previously and he is now destroying the family atmosphere at the Club which affects everyone including the enthusiasm of the players.
I can see Ineos drawing stumos in 2025
At least £500m is required to buy World Class players and £2m to rebuild the stadium. I think they might try to sell their investment, maybe to the Sheikh?
I think you are right he will run this club down and either buy the rest of the shares cheap or sell to teh Saudis for a big profit either way he wins and its no more than the glaziers deserve greedy yanks have allowed terrible signings and management since they came in grabbing profit at the clubs expense as for all the misfits playing a complete clear out starting with rashford sat there grinning yesterday followed by onana biggest fraud at the club
Everything bad is working against Manchester United club now. The management has so damaged the club, morals are so down. The only way out is winning games.
Let Casimero go! He is past his time! United is in need of younger and more active players.
Casemiro cheerio. Rashford cheerio. Ineos cheerio. Let’s start from there…a parasite, an ungrateful, spoilt brat and a useless bunch of fcukwits…r.
Get rid of winners like Casemiro, Ronaldo, Varane and De Gea but give their wages to Bruno, Rashford, Magwaya and Shaw.

I agree in that exact order. The manager needs to change his playing format Maybe 4. 4. 2 he hasn’t the players to play his format successfully. M.U supporter forever
Spot on mate well said
They must get rid of those useless guys they ard not worth their wages. Most cant even play in the 3 league ,as for the goalkeeper ,must go play on the beach ,useless, and so radical, please get proper players. ,they as been, players. RUBIN AMORIM WAS MAD TO GO TO M UNITED. a club thats. been on the down trend for years ,since sr Alex left
As a lifelong fan I think the club should consider a complete squad overhaul only keep the players that wants to play for our glorious club and let the others go because currently it’s like coming to work just to clock in get paid and go home no passion for the club or game for some of these players
100% accurate.
100% that’s what most of us want starting with Rashford to go then casimiro to go, Mount to go with frequent injuries malacia and shaw to go etc. Then buy a complete stricker left fullback to replace Dalot and a strong defensive midfielder. System to play, I favor 3:5:2
Management is the fuckups period
united need to lose some players straight away i.e
rashford, anthony, casemiro, mount, shaw, malacia, evans and lindelof, these players have nothing to offer united any longer, not sure who would want them though.
What is glaringly obvious is that all the fans are agreeing that the club is in a downward spiral and the atmosphere has gone even before lockdown we have given up our exec tickets as around us all the regulars have left and it’s all tourists so all the chat and laughs have gone the stewards were the only regulars left to chat to and were lovely but terribly paid.
Having watched United since 1954 and me 1967 we have been to watch the relegated United where the team ran their socks off and had pride in being a United player.,the premiership winners and now I just don’t know what we will see from game to game
A clear out is obvious but with our transfer policy who knows what players we will get why isn’t anmorim trying any of the youth team they can’t be worse than Anthony or zirkzee?
That my take on it and rant for the day
Thank you for this excellent article It was very helpful and informative.
United’s downfall is karma.
Hiring quality managers with clear player development plans, then abandoning them is asinine. Firing van Gaal, ten Hag and not hiring van Nistlerooy as a permanent while hiring the perpetual club destructor Mourinho have been some of the most stupid decisions made in football history.
Buying overpriced losers past their prime and panic buys of untested players, while holding onto Rashford, Maguire, Fernandes, Evans, Shaw, Mount and Lindelöf and, selling off McTominay speaks volumes, as well.
Sell the lackluster millionaires and play the youngsters, as is United’s tradition.
Man u needs to start buying premiership players
The Ineos are contributing in destroying the club. Rangnick is doing the opposite of what people expected. He is killing the club. The players are not really happy. Its not only Rashford and a few others who are not performing, the rest of the team is crap. There is no philosophy which was instilled during Fergie’s error. What formation is the team playing now? ZILCH
THE URGENCY IN PLAYING FOOTBALL IS MISSING AT UNITED
