Erik ten Hag wary of Bournemouth threat ahead of crucial away tie

Manchester United are looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League on their trip to Bournemouth.

Erik ten Hag has warned his side that Bournemouth are a side that can cause problems for everyone in the Premier League.

Although it’s unlikely that United will qualify for the Champions League, a win would give us some chance after watching Tottenham lose 4-0 against Newcastle this afternoon even if it means The Magpies are breathing down our necks as things stand.

Former Bournemouth manager Harry Redknapp is expecting a ‘tough’ battle between the two sides.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the match, as quoted by ManUtd.com, Ten Hag said: “They bring problems to every team in the Premier League, we’ve seen it, it’s a difficult team to play against. But we have to find a way to win and it’s about that.

“We want to play very good but if you can’t play very good, then still you have to win.”

Of course, United learned about that the hard way in December, as Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford.

The Cherries will be looking to do the double over United for the first time in their history this afternoon.

Ten Hag also told Sky Sports that he is proud of United’s youngsters, with Ethan Wheatley making the bench for today’s game.

“When you are in the first team you have to take the responsibility and you get judged by the performances,” the manager added. “We will help them but we are very proud that players like Kobbie, Alejandro Garnacho, and now you see Willy Kambwala, do the job.”

Kambwala makes his consecutive start alongside Harry Maguire in the heart of defence.
