United loanee could return to the club this summer having made just one 54-minute cameo

Manchester United’s Dan Gore is yet to feature for Port Vale since he made his debut for the club back in January.

The 19-year-old joined the League One outfit on loan in the winter window in hopes of gaining some much-needed first-team experience.

He’d been vital for the Under-21s, whom he captains, throughout the first half of the term and had even been granted two senior outings under Erik ten Hag. The first – his United debut – came against Crystal Palace in a Carabao Cup clash last November, followed by a brief cameo in the closing stages of the triumphant Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa. Both were off the bench.

Unfortunately, Gore has only registered one appearance for the Valiants thus far – a 54-minute cameo in his maiden outing during a 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth.

He subsequently sustained an injury, which may have ended his season, given that the side have five fixtures remaining and Gore is showing no signs of an imminent return.

Port Vale boss addresses Gore’s continued absence

Manager Darren Moore provided an update on the Carrington graduate’s status in late March, saying: “With Dan Gore, that’s an ongoing, persistent problem. Whether we feel he’s going to be back for any part of this season, we’re not too sure.

“It’s not looking too good for him at the moment, and it’s a persistent one that we’ll still monitor.”

Such torrid luck on the fitness front means Gore will return to United this summer no better off than when he left.
