Why Manchester United loanee has been out of action since he made January debut

Manchester United loanee Dan Gore has been out of action since he made his Port Vale debut in January.

The 19-year-old signed for the out-of-form League One outfit in the winter in hopes of sealing increased game time and valuable senior experience for the remainder of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Such plans have, unfortunately, been put on hold for now, as he sustained an injury immediately after making his maiden start for Vale on January 27; he featured for 54 minutes as the side fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Portsmouth.

Prior to completing his temporary move, Gore, who captains the U21s, had been granted two outings under Erik ten Hag. He made his senior debut on September 26 in a Carabao Cup tie at home to Crystal Palace, followed by a brief cameo in the closing stages of United’s Boxing Day win over Aston Villa.

Gore continuing injury recovery

Manchester Evening News reported on Gore’s setback today and confirmed that the teenager had stayed with Vale rather than returning to Carrington to complete his recovery.

United will be hoping he’s fit to feature soon so that they can see how he fares in a first-team set-up. The Valiants currently sit 22nd in the table and have undergone a change in manager while Gore has been sidelined, with Darren Moore replacing Andy Crosby.
