71% passing, 0 dribbles: Marcus Rashford struggles to have impact in 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest

Manchester United were not at their convincing best on Wednesday night when they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.

The winner came just before stoppage time in the second half as it looked like we were destined for extra-time. Thankfully that wasn’t the case and Casemiro’s header found the back of the net.

In turn, Casemiro was voted man of the match by United fans, but it would be fair to say the overall performance from the team was lacking in quality.

One player likely to be singled out for criticism is Marcus Rashford.

The 26-year-old was tacked again with leading the line, though he failed to hold play up and started to resemble the player Ralf Rangnick inherited as interim manager.

The stats don’t read well

Rashford had 31 touches of the ball, but only managed to find a teammate 15 times out of 21 attempts, meaning he clocked up a passing accuracy rate of 71%, as per SofaScore.

The England international had just two shots throughout the game and both were off target.

Furthermore, Rashford only won two out of five duels and he lost possession on 11 occasions in the 90 minutes.

The sooner Rasmus Hojlund returns the better! Then we might see Rashford back out on the left, with Alejandro Garnacho attacking from the right flank.
