Former Manchester United star third-favourite for Republic of Ireland job

Former Manchester United defender John O’Shea has seen his odds to become the next Republic of Ireland manager slashed.

The former Ireland coach was priced out at 66/1 last week via talkSPORT BET but he has now been backed into 5/1.

O’Shea is currently a free agent following his departure from Birmingham City’s backroom staff. He joined the club as part of Wayne Rooney’s coaching team but has now been left unemployed.

As a result, O’Shea is third-favourite to land the Ireland job – ahead of previous favourite and former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

The favourite is former Chelsea assistant manager Anthony Barry, who now leads the market at 2/1 overtaking Lee Carsley who has been pushed back down to second-favourite at 3/1.

Republic of Ireland next manager odds

  • Anthony Barry – 2/1
  • Lee Carsley – 3/1
  • John O’Shea – 5/1
  • Neil Lennon – 8/1
  • Chris Coleman – 12/1

It would be fantastic for O’Shea to land the Republic of Ireland job. There’s a lot of work to be done in regard to the Irish national team and the job may come too soon for the former United man.

At least he’s in the running!
